Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) estimates calories burned at rest. Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) adds movement, training, and daily activity on top of BMR.
Most TDEE calculators use activity multipliers: sedentary, light, moderate, active, very active. Be honest — many people over-select 'active' and wonder why fat loss stalls.
Start with the calculator output, then verify with 2–3 weeks of consistent eating and weekly average scale weight. Adjust by 150–250 kcal if progress is too fast or too slow.
For fat loss, a 300–500 kcal deficit is sustainable for most adults. For muscle gain, a 200–350 kcal surplus often beats aggressive bulking.
Recalculate TDEE after every 5–8 kg of body weight change. Smaller bodies burn fewer calories; the math must move with you.
